Circus

This is a self-titled album designed for a street band called Circus. Through their music, the band explores a modern youth culture that is based on alcohol, drugs, sex and alternative thinking about the world. The roots of their music style comes from rock and funk and is influenced by bands like The Red Hot Chili Peppers. It is targeted towards people in the age range of 15 to 30 who are open-minded and love funk music.

The main focus for the design was to bring an element of fun to the cover which would bring the attention back to buying an original disk rather than downloading the music. I designed the cover by using a free-lined drawing on a transparent plastic surface, allowing the design of the booklet to be seen underneath and therefore merge with the cover drawing. The booklet’s illustration has the option of four different colours so the audience could choose the colour they prefer. This allows the buyer to be involved in the design process and have the fun of interaction.
